Programmes of Fundasaun Alola, Timor-Leste. Provided by Kristian Buus/STARS Foundation

In addition to The Ashmore Foundation’s Partnership and Small Grants programmes, The Ashmore Foundation works in partnership with STARS Foundation, which provides awards to exceptional frontline NGOs changing the lives of children in developing countries.

The Ashmore Foundation and STARS Foundation share the view that well-managed frontline NGOs are often best placed to respond to the needs of their communities, and that by encouraging effective practices we can help to sustainably improve the lives of millions of children and young people.

In 2014, The Ashmore Foundation funded the cash element of the STARS Impact Awards in Education across all regions for five outstanding local NGOs. The winners were:

Educate Girls, India

Luta pela Paz, Brazil

Childreach, Tanzania

The two runners up were:

Shidhulai Swanirvar Sangstha, Bangladesh

Spirit of Youth Association (SOY), Egypt

This partnership and funding has enabled the sharing of methodologies, capabilities and resources between Foundations and has allowed STARS  to broaden its support to more high performing NGOs across 100 countries, impacting more lives.
